Duo friendship, then changed her mind to a trowa, Wufei, duo friendship.
I gave her a little of both! "Stuck in the Snow " Heero tried the engine again, but all that it managed to do was make a sick sort of whining sound before giving out again. The car that Wufei, Trowa, and Heero had taken from the ski chalet into town had hit a patch of ice and careened into a snow bank. That was a success, as far as Heero was concerned, because a few inches to the left or right, and they would have hit either a very mighty pine or a rather angry looking birch tree with the car instead of the relatively harmless snow pile. Unfortunately, said snow pile had become unstable and fell atop the car, covering the entire engine and front drivers side door. No one in the car was upset or anything. Once injury assessment had been made, and no one was found hurt, the three pilots took stock of the situation and tried to extricate the car from the snow pile with little to show for it. Wufei suggested that without sufficient traction underneath their snowbound wheels, they were actually making the situation worse instead of better. That was when the three now UNadmittedly cold pilots shuffled back into the vehicle, and Trowa called Quatre and Duo to come to their aide. Trowa hung up and looked at Wufei. Who looked at Heero. Who looked back at Trowa. They all tried to think of something to talk about but things didnt always work that way. They tried not to discuss the war anymore, and their combined work at Preventers had been made a taboo subject by Duo at the beginning of this vacation. Silence overcame the car as the three occupants found other things to amuse themselves. After about half an hour, there was the distinct sound of cards being shuffled from the backseat. Wufei twisted in the front passenger seat to see what the sound was. Trowa held up a pack of cards that he had found in the bottom of the survival bag left in the car. He shuffled again, snapping the cards with practiced ease. He could easily start a few card tricks but Heero and Wufei were not exactly an ideal audience for that sort of entertainment. Heero sort of glared at Trowa in a way that said this is not a productive use of time but Trowa just gave the cards another shuffle and began to deal out three piles of cards. Interested, Wufei was the first to climb over the middle seat and into the back, taking a spot across from Trowa to see what he was up to. Trowa pushed a pile of cards into his hand. Never one to be left out of anything (or, as Heero rathered say, left uninformed) he poked his eyes back and watched for a minute. Wufei snorted, and Trowa just pushed the third hand of cards towards him and waited for Heero to straddle the front seat arm rest and slide his upper body into the backseat. While it wasnt exactly productive, Heero wasnt too bothered. They had already called for backup. Duo and Quatre should have been there in the next few minutes anyways with the sand to put under the wheels. Duo would never let them live down getting caught in the snow like this, and then playing cards the whole time. But, it was alright to let loose a little, right? They might not have had much to talk about, but they did have a healthy competitive side. And a camaraderie that defied definition. The game of cut-throat Old-Maid began.
20 miles up the road: Quatre looked at the puffs of steam coming from the engine with dismay, then looked at Duo, Arent you good at engines and things? Duo snorted from inside the car, not having left the passenger seat where it was warm, I can tell you what is wrong with it from HERE, Quatre! You and a tree played chicken. The tree won. Quatre scowled and climbed back into the car, rubbing his glove-covered hands together and then sticking them under his armpits to keep warm. He hated cold weather with a passion. You suck, Duo. Heeros never going to let us live this down, ya know. Were supposed to be rescuing them, but instead we get stuck ourselves. Duo harrumphed. Quatre laughed a little, Yeah, but if I know the boys, theyre doing everything they can to get out of the snow, and theyll call any minute to say that were not needed. Then we can tell them that were stuck too. Duo nodded. Quatre was right: Heero wouldnt rest until they were out anyway. Kicking back and reclining the seat, Duo put his feet up on the dashboard and looked to Quatre with a grin, So... did you see what Une was WEARING on Thursday? My god! It was hideous! Quatre laughed and commented as well, getting comfortable
wrapped up in the little thermal blanket inside the survival kit in
the back of the car, and he and Duo set in to chat away the time until
their friends found them. At least they knew that between the two
of them, talk would never be lost, even if their friendship defined
definition sometimes.
